Selective mass emails

Introduction and features

This is a rather simple extension for phpBB 3.2 and 3.3 that extends phpBB’s mass email feature. The mass email feature is in accessed via ACP > System > Mass email.

By default, phpBB’s mass emailer sends text emails by the administrator to either all users (except those who do not want to receive mass emails) or to groups you select.

After activation, this extension adds additional filters, allowing administrators to narrow down the list of users getting mass emails, generally to reach users who access the board infrequently. The new filters incorporate some popular criteria including:

  • Inactive users only
  • Number of posts (less than, less than or equal to, equal to, not equal to, greater than or equal to, or greater than)
  • Number of unapproved posts (greater than or equal to, or greater than)
  • Number of unread private messages (less than, less than or equal to, equal to, not equal to, greater than or equal to, or greater than)
  • One or more board-defined ranks
  • Last visit date (less than, less than or equal to, greater than or equal to, or greater than)
  • Last posted date (less than, less than or equal to, greater than or equal to, or greater than)

The more filters selected, the narrower the range of users sent mass emails because all criteria are ANDed.

This is now an approved extension. It can be downloaded and you can get support from it here.
