In the initiative, students will provide care to patients via telemedicine. For now, care practices in family and community medicine, internal medicine and emergency medicine are covered. However, there are projects underway for teleservice programs to be offered for the school's other courses, such as: psychiatry, cardiology, geriatrics, oncology, neurology, among others, with the aim of being implemented throughout the year 2023.
According to the program's partners, among the Osimert 80mg (Osimertinib) advantages of the initiative is the fact that students do not need to be at an advanced stage of the postgraduate program, as they only need to have an active CRM and a digital certificate to carry out consultations, provide certificates , prescribing medications and referring patients for exams and consultation with specialists, for example.
In the simplest cases, students will provide all the care and, in more complex cases, they will be able to count, via online application, on direct assistance from a group of doctors who are already specialists in the areas and other students who are specializing and who are part of the program.
In the on-call model, the program's doctors do not need to dedicate themselves 100% to the program, allowing flexibility in the student's time and work. EBRAMED and Digital Medicina will have at least five doctors during the day and three at night to provide care, as this way there will be a distribution of patients among doctors who are specializing, making time organization possible of the student.

Students can choose between 6 and 48 hours of assistance per week. However, the Brazilian Medical Association requires a minimum of 24 hours of practice per week in the chosen specialty for the professional student to obtain the prerequisite for registration for the specialty title test. Thus, the on-call program allows the student to account for the work/training time necessary to register for the title test”, explains Dr. Leonardo Jorge Cordeiro de Paula, clinical cardiologist at the Instituto do Coração (Incor) and academic medical director from EBRAMED.
At the beginning of the program, student doctors will receive specialized training in telemedicine and then begin providing care to Digital Medicine patients, following the quality standards taught in EBRAMED courses, current legislation that regulates the activity and standards and technical conduct required by Digital Medicine. Also according to the project partners, participating students will still have the opportunity to receive remuneration for each service provided.
The on-call program was created by EBRAMED in partnership with Digital Medicina to be able to adjust the daily dynamics of students, providing practical experience with care for real patients, assisting in the time counting period for the practice required in each specialty and the possibility of extra financial gains. Students studying postgraduate studies cannot take the specialist qualification test only with the postgraduate certificate. Therefore, the time of practical experience, according to each medical specialty, is essential in the qualification of the specialist. This promises to transform the medical education market”, adds Dr. Leonardo.
Registration and other information about the On Call Program can be consulted with the teaching sector of the Brazilian School of Medicine. Currently, the initiative already has more than 150 active students on duty.
The Brazilian School of Medicine is the first postgraduate platform focused on digital teaching for doctors across the country. It currently has 120 employees, of which 87 are from the medical team, professors who work in nationally recognized hospitals. After two years of operation, more than 3,500 doctors have already completed extension courses in edtech and there are currently 1,458 students in postgraduate medical courses, with a current average of 300 new enrollments per month.
