Paying me

Payment

In general, you only pay after work is complete. For very large jobs I often do work in phases, and work is billed upon completion of a phase. I have a convenient secure form you can use to send me a service inquiry.

Currencies I accept

I accept U.S. dollars as payment and in some cases the Ether (Ethereum) digital currency.

Transaction fees

I prefer not to have to pay any transaction fees to get payment, but it’s often unavoidable. If there is a way to pay me and avoid the fees, and it’s not illegal or unethical (such as friend-to-friend), please use that method.

Currency exchange fees

I bill in U.S. dollars. If you pay me in another currency, the exchange medium should convert them to U.S. dollars so I receive that. It is typical in foreign money exchanges to be charged fees and it’s built into my pricing. If the amount does not work out to an exact amount in U.S. dollars, don’t worry about it. Close enough is generally okay.

Payment methods

You can pay with using any of the methods shown below. If none of them work for you and you have a suggested other method, let me know. I may be willing to use it.

Most customers pay electronically via PayPal but Venmo is preferred because I am not charged any fees. Use whatever method is most convenient to you.

For electronic payments, you can usually use my email address mark@phpbbservices.com to route the money to me.

Do not click on any of these links until you are ready to pay me and I have completed the work to your satisfaction.

Not all of these payment methods work outside of the United States of America.

  • PayPal. You can use PayPal to send me the money in U.S. Dollars. You can use my email address to pay me: mark@phpbbservices.com (or also markdhamill@gmail.com). If you need an invoice, I will send you a PayPal invoice. I can also use PayPal’s Request Money feature if you need to pay by credit card.
  • Venmo. I can be paid via Venmo. I prefer Venmo to PayPal because they don’t deduct any fees. In most cases you don’t pay a fee either, but if you use a credit card or non-major debit card, Venmo will charge a 3% fee. There is no fee with Venmo if you use money from your bank account or your Venmo balance. My Venmo contact name is @mark-hamill, so use that. If you need an invoice let me know and I will send you one.
  • Skrill. Skrill is now also an option. This is often a great option if you live outside of the United States, or even inside. You should be able to use my email (mark@phpbbservices.com) to pay me.
  • Zelle. You need to have a bank has a Zelle interface for this to work. This is very simple. Normally I just send you an email, you pay via Zelle and I get payment nearly immediately.
  • CashApp. The CashApp is an easy way to pay me from your mobile device. Use my CashTag $MarkDHamill.
  • Check or Money Order. If you want to pay by check or money order, send me an email at mark@phpbbservices.com and I will provide my postal address. The check or money order must be payable in U.S. dollars. At this time I don’t have a shopping cart so I can’t directly get payment from you via a credit card.
  • Invoice. If you need an invoice let me know and I will send you one. If it takes more than 30 days to receive payment I maintain the right to charge applicable late fees.
  • Ether (Ethereum). I must agree to be paid in this method for you to use it. The value of the ether must be equal to the cost of your work in U.S. dollars.

Warranties

Worried about things going wrong after you have paid me? Not to worry. Within 30 days of completing the work, I will handle any minor problems related to the work I did for you at no extra charge. I don’t fix unrelated problems for free.

Tax forms

If you are a corporation or nonprofit, you may need me to fill out a tax form before we can do business. Generally in these cases I will bill for the time it takes to do the labor to fill out the form, generally one hour, or $70 at my commercial rate. I will add this cost to your bill. I have a ready-to-go W-9 form I can send if necessary.

You may need to send me an IRS Form 1099 at tax time. I leave this up to you. All income, whether reported on a 1099 or not, I must report as taxable income. I don’t do any work “under the table”. I don’t have to report to the IRS who I performed work for, just report the income. But your organization may have to file a 1099 with the IRS, or other form with your local tax authority.

Payment Policy

  • If you have a history of paying me or you just seem on the level with me (which is typically the case), I generally waive the right to collect portions in advance.
  • Payment is required promptly upon completion of work or for large jobs, upon completion of a phase.

Please ask me if you need any clarification.
